Environmental Protection

Global Tankcontainer Services we place a high value on maintaining the cleanliness of land, water, and air while not jeopardizing other assets and resources. In each scenario, we believe close collaboration with the necessary authorities to be a critical aspect.

Comprehensive organizational measures, as well as technical safety and control systems, aid in meeting both legal requirements and the high standards we set for people and the environment’s protection. All water on the surface of the tanker dock, in the tank farm, and at pipeline pumping stations, for example, is collected and drained into a separation system. This prevents polluted water from entering. There are waterproof surplus liquid storage areas when appropriate, which may be emptied using the separation system and are checked for stray liquids on a regular basis.

Modern sealing machinery is put in the floating tank roofs to avoid the spread of odours from the crude oil in the tank farm, which also adds to fire and explosion protection.

Naturally, any garbage generated on our premises is collected and properly disposed of in accordance with the law. If, despite all of our precautions (which, for the sake of brevity, are not listed in their entirety below), an accident or fault occurs, there is additional equipment and other means available to prevent or at least minimize any interference with people’s and the environment’s safety. We have organized, well-structured damage control thanks to a company-wide alert and emergency response management strategy developed in collaboration with the authorities.

Harbour Protection

Global Tankcontainer Services operates its own private harbour area in addition to the tanker pier and its three manifolds for processing the tankers that arrive. With a great sense of responsibility, Global Tankcontainer Services operates and protects its harbour. Strict internal restrictions for ships wishing to dock at the tanker pier ensure that only those tankers that meet Global Tankcontainer Services safety regulations are permitted to dock. Global Tankcontainer Services inspects a ship immediately if there is any uncertainty that it complies with the requirements we set. While the ship is still at sea, it is inspected with a fine tooth comb to ensure that it follows our internal guidelines.

Apart from the regulations set by Global Tankcontainer Services, the harbour facility itself is subjected to intense monitoring as part of the ISPS Code’s stack of procedures to defend against threats to ships and harbours (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code). This law requires tankers to provide authorities with additional information beyond what Global Tankcontainer Services demands. As a result, the port authorities have a detailed image of the tankers entering the harbour at all times and are able to react quickly if any irregularities are discovered.

Global Tankcontainer Services Code governs not only shipping but also the entry criteria for both on- and off-shore harbors. Its implementation adds to the already stringent restrictions that govern all Global Tankcontainer Services plant security. Anyone accessing the NWO or our harbour area must first confirm their identify at the gate to acquire legal authorization. There are additional rules for anyone intending to board or exit from the ships anchored here.
